What is a Kundli?
A Kundli (also known as janam kundli or birth chart) is a graphical representation of the exact positions of planets, stars, and zodiac signs at the precise moment and location of a person's birth. In Vedic astrology (Jyotish), the Kundli is the cosmic blueprint of an individual's life.
A Kundli contains the rashi chart (D-1) and divisional charts like Navamsa (D-9). The 12 houses, 9 planets, and 12 zodiac signs interact through aspects, conjunctions, and placements to create a unique map of each person's life journey.
The Ascendant (Lagna)
The sign rising on the eastern horizon at the moment of birth is the Ascendant or Lagna. It is the most critical point in the chart, representing the self, personality, and the lens through which all other placements are experienced. The Lagna changes approximately every two hours.
