Mercury (Budh) represents the vast sky. Rahu represents the blue color of the sky and sudden destruction. When these two planets combine negatively (especially in the 12th house of loss), they create a massive cosmic storm. They will destroy a person's wealth, sleep, and mental peace, blowing their life to "shreds."
But Lal Kitab gives us the ultimate scientific metaphor: Jupiter (Guru) is the Ozone Layer.
Just as the ozone layer protects the earth from the destructive rays of the sky, Jupiter protects the human soul from the destruction of Mercury and Rahu. If a person with this terrible combination seeks the blessings of Jupiter (by serving saints, respecting their father, and maintaining pure Dharma), the "ozone layer" activates, and the storm cannot touch them.
